We all have to start somewhere...

Welcome to my blog.  While I will never claim to be a good writer, I have always enjoyed putting my thoughts into writing.  Taking time to write makes me slow down and helps me process what I am thinking and feeling.  I chose the name of my blog for two reasons.  #1 - because of my son and #2 - because of what the Lord has done in my life.

My son was born with the congenital heart defect Transposition of the Great Arteries.  This is a congenital heart defect in which the two major vessels that carry blood away from the heart are switched.  Here is a diagram of a healthy heart and a TGA heart.

When he was nine days old, he had the arterial switch procedure (open heart surgery) which switched the great arteries back to normal position.  The surgery corrected his heart and made it new.  What a miracle he is!

I became a Christian when I was nine.  2 Corinthians 5:17 says This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person.  The old life is gone; a new life has begun!  I am so thankful that because of what Christ did on the cross that my heart has been made new.  As with all of us, my life has had it's fair share of ups and downs.  I didn't realize until what we went through with Ian what a real rut I had gotten into.  My life had become so routine, almost robotic.  While I was generally content and even happy with my life, in many ways I was no longer feeling.  What a sad place to be.  Thankfully God can meet us there as well.  Ezekiel 11:19 says I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.  In November of 2009, God did a might work in two hearts.

I look forward to sharing more of our story with you in future posts.
